What is the "Ran"toul in Color 5k Run/Walk?

The "Ran"toul in Color 5k is a different kind of 5k run/walk.  The event is untimed and participated in for fun and fitness.  What makes this event different than other run/walks is the aspect of color spraying.  While you run or walk through the race course, at various points there will be color stations where event volunteers will throw colored dye into the air that will land on the participants.  As you continue through  the course, you will be covered with different colors in your own unique color pattern.  The dye powder is safe and and 100% non-toxic and washable.  After everyone has concluded the course, all participants will gather together and each toss a small amount of color dye into the air to complete their coloration.  Participants will want to remember to wear white to get get best color effect from the "Ran"toul in Color 5K.

Age Requirement
All ages are eligible to participate.

Parking       
Parking is available in downtown Rantoul on street within walking distance of the race.
 
Bibs
Your race bib must be worn on the front of your clothing. Anyone without a proper bib will be removed from the race.  Only registered runners/walkers will be allowed to participate in the 5K and color toss.

Timing
This event will be untimed.
 
Course Requirements
The 5K participants have 1.5 hours to complete the course (30 min/mile pace). The course has a rolling street closure. If you fall behind this pace, the roads will be reopened to normal traffic and you will be a pedestrian and subject to normal traffic rules.
 
Results & Awards
No finishing awards will be given for this event.  This is a non-competitive race for fun and fitness.
 
Water
Water will be available on course at the halfway mark and at the conclusion of the race.
 
Course
The course will begin and end in downtown Rantoul and run through nearby neighborhoods in Rantoul.

iPods/Headsets
iPods and personal headsets are allowed, but are not encouraged for the race.
 
Bicycles, Pets, Etc
Skates, scooters, wagons and bicycles are not allowed on the race course. Dogs and other pets are not allowed on course. Strollers and baby joggers are allowed if you are walking, but not running.  If you are participating with a stroller or baby jogger, please line up towards the back of the starting line for everyone's safety.

Medical & First Aid
There will be a medical tent at the finish line festival. Participants who are unable to complete the race will be transported back to the start/finish line. If you feel ill or become injured during the race, PLEASE STOP IMMEDIATELY. We will have race crews that will be surveying the course and assisting participants in need. Your health and well-being are most important!
 
Spectators

Spectators are advised to be in place one half hour before race start on race day to secure a spot and avoid road closures.

Color
During this race, you will be doused with 100% non-toxic, bio-degradable color powder at various points during the race.  Participants should wear white or light colored clothing to get the best color effect.  If you wish to participate in the race, but not participate in the “coloration” please indicate by making an “x” with tape across the front and back of your shirt.  While we will do our best to avoid coloring participants so marked, be advised that avoiding ‘coloration” may be impossible and some indirect coloring will likely occur.

Waivers
All participants must sign a liability waiver in order to participate.  Participants under the age of 18 must have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.  A copy of the waiver will be available online with registration materials, and may be printed and signed and brought with you to the race.

Race check-in
Race packets and bibs may be picked up prior to the event at the race registration tables.  Check-in will begin one and a half hours prior to the start of the race (8:00 am).
